A 22-year-old man was bitten by a dog.
A man was outside the Bracken Fox restaurant when a rottweiler, attacked him, police said.
The Bracken Fox restaurant is near Leeds.
A man has been taken to St James’s Hospital in Leeds to be treated for three bites to his left thigh.
The man has been named locally as Jonathan Miller.
The man was getting rid of some empty bottles in the car park of the restaurant when the dog attacked him.
Jonathan Miller works at the Bracken Fox restaurant as assistant manager.
One of the paramedics who attended to Mr Miller at the scene said: “I’ve never seen such deep wounds in ten years of this job. That dog must have had a real problem with the guy.”
The incident happened at 12.30 on Saturday, when the man was getting rid of the empty bottles from the busy Friday night.
A waitress from the restaurant, Lucy Milne, found Mr Miller in the car park in a pool of blood.
She said: “I can’t believe Jonny’s been bitten. He was only outside for five minutes and when I went to take some more bottles out I found him on the ground. I hate dogs.”
West Yorkshire Police have launched an inquiry. They are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Rottweilers are listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
There have been 12 attacks by rottweilers in Yorkshire in the past 3 years.
